When To Use Embroidery

Embroidery is the go-to method for custom t-shirts when you want bold, vibrant designs that last. It’s especially cost-effective for orders of 24 pieces or more, making it ideal for teams, events, and merchandise. The inks bond strongly to the fabric, giving your shirts a professional look and durability through countless washes. If you’re looking for high-quality prints that make your brand stand out, screen printing is the best choice.

Custom Embroidery

Embroidery is the art of stitching your logo or design directly onto garments with colored threads, creating a textured, professional look that lasts. Perfect for hats, polos, jackets, and more, embroidery adds a premium finish and long-term durability to your apparel.

Flat Embroidery

Flat embroidery is the classic style most often used on garments. It typically uses tatami stitches to fill larger areas, with satin stitches along the edges for a crisp, polished outline.

For simple, text-based logos, a full satin stitch can provide a clean finish, while more detailed artwork benefits from a mix of tatami and satin stitches to add depth and texture.

During our digitizing process, we choose the best stitch types for your design to achieve the sharpest look. If you have a preference or want a specific stitch style, just let us know—we’ll tailor it to your needs.

3D Puff Embroidery

Also called raised or foam embroidery, this technique gives designs a bold, three-dimensional look. A layer of foam is placed beneath the stitching, and as the embroidery machine runs, the thread covers the foam to create height and texture.

After stitching, the extra foam is removed and the design is cleaned up, leaving a crisp, raised finish. While it’s especially popular on hats, 3D puff embroidery can also be applied to sweatshirts, jackets, bags, and more. Because of the added steps, it typically costs a little more than flat embroidery.

Patch Style Embroidery

Embroidered patches are made by stitching your design onto fabric and then cutting it to shape. They can be applied in several ways—sewn on, heat-pressed with an iron-on backing, or attached with Velcro.

There are different patch styles available, including woven, sublimated, and traditional embroidered patches. The best option depends on your artwork and desired look. Our team can guide you through the choices to make sure you get the right fit for your project.
